Hey everyone, I’ve been loving my Lexus RZ 450e so far, but I’ve got a question for those of you who’ve tackled longer drives:

Has anyone done a day trip of more than 500 miles with their RZ 450e? If so, how did you manage charging along the way? I know the range and charging times require some planning, so I’m curious what worked best for your trips.

Any tips on timing charging stops, locating reliable chargers, or maximizing range during a longer trip would be super helpful. Maybe driving habits?

So, before going for the long drive make sure you charge the car up to 100%. After that, you want to drive until the battery is only 10-15% and charge it again. I hope you know about PlugShare or ChargePoint. Also, be careful with your driving habits, and everything should be ok. Good luck.

I haven't taken my Lexus RZ on a road trip yet, I've been daydreaming about it. I have a bit of a plan already and maybe you can take a look and see if it fits.

I'm considering running 500–600 mile days, but I'm a little concerned about the manufacturer's maximum daily charging restriction. There are allegations that Toyota is restricting charging, and I wonder if Subaru and Lexus will do the same.

I plan to start with a full charge, drive for a few hours, and then recharge using a DC fast charger. For the shorter charging stops, I'll try to maintain the battery level between 10% and 15% in order to optimize charging speed. I'll search for hotels that offer overnight charging when I'm traveling for several days.

I'll need to do more research to be certain especially the stops. Also you need to consider the weather and how it affects the charging and utilization.

I've noticed a significant improvement in my RZ's range after the recent update. Without using the air conditioner, I'm now getting around 225 miles, which is a 20-mile increase. Even with the air conditioner on Eco mode, I'm still achieving over 205 miles. Before the update, the range would drop significantly when using the air conditioner.

The charging speed has also improved. I've been able to charge at 150 kW on a 150 kW charger. It's important to remember that charging speeds decrease as the battery approaches full charge to protect battery health.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the recent update. It has addressed some of the previous range and charging issues.

I've only charged my RZ at 143kW when the battery was really low. It slows down after that. I don't know if battery cooling helps or hurts charging. It would be nice if it could charge faster for longer.
