So I just came across a review of the RZ 450e, and apparently, someone’s saying it doesn’t have any regen on the brake pedal and doesn’t do one-pedal driving. Say what? I can’t believe that the brand known for pioneering blended braking would drop the ball on their EV. This feels like a total letdown. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Let’s clear the air! The RZ 450e absolutely has regenerative braking. You can choose from four levels of regen via the steering wheel paddles, which let you fine-tune how much energy recovery you get when decelerating. However, you’re correct that it doesn’t support one-pedal driving. That’s a design choice Lexus made, likely to maintain their trademark smooth driving dynamics.

It might feel like a step back compared to EVs with aggressive regen settings, but it’s more about blending regen with traditional braking seamlessly. If you’re after full-stop regen, this might not check that box, but the system still delivers solid energy recovery.
